A three bedroomed Victorian terraced house in Bow which needed full refurbishment after decades of neglect. A 'back to brick' project, it was undertaken over several months and involved the complete replacement of most of the main structural elements of the property. The addition of large bi-folding doors at the rear created a connection between house and garden, opened up the kitchen space visually and brought light into a previously dark area. We designed a fully bespoke kitchen to utilise every inch of the space, including a tricky bay window. Worktops of oak and concrete complemented the bare brick splashback and the statement strong blue colour of the units. Original floorboards were sanded down and lime washed to create a calming beach house effect on the first floor whilst a more practical darker stain was chosen for the ground floor. Original fireplace recesses were opened up in the bedrooms, adding much needed floor space; the two original reception room fireplaces were left in place and fully refurbished.
